Venice: city of dreams

Venice is a extraordinary city known how "Serenissima", City of Masks", "City of Water", "City of Canals" and probably is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The city in its entirety is listed as a World Heritage Site, along with its lagoon and is one of the most important tourist destinations in the world. Venice is sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges: its visit is done by feet or with the boats. Nothing cars.. Perhaps for this motive being one of Europe's most romantic cities. During the Second World War, the historic city was largely free from attack and no architectural damage done to the city itself.

Near historic city, there are two small isles (also known as Venezia insulare): Burano and Murano. The first is knew for lace and the second for the wonderful artistic glasses. Burano is very characteristic for the multiple colors of the its houses

In Venice there is a seasonal phenomena of Acqua alta where much of the city's surface is covered in high water. In Venice is famous also the Carnival: the city become full of thousand people in mask. Unfortunately, Venice is very overcrowded at some points of the year (how during the Carnival). The best periods for a trip are, in my opinion, late January (incredible landscape if the city is covered by snow!) and from late October to end of November (beautiful soft color tones)

My Trip opinion ( 1 Poor - 5 Excellent )
